Send Process: Understanding Your Options within the Prepare Step

Within the Prepare step of the Send to Overtur process, you will be empowered to pick how you would like to proceed. There is no single right answer. In fact, the best approach depends on many variables, including your project, your workflow, and your familiarity with the process at the time of submission. The flexibility exists so that you can adjust as needed from submission to submission, even within the same project.

The available options reflect a deliberate recognition that no two projects and no two teams work exactly the same way.

Full Submission

Walks you through all steps, Sheets then Files, using the plugin's built-in sheet export process. This approach provides the tightest alignment between your shared schedule data and the drawings Overtur receives, minimizing the potential for mismatches.

This tends to be a strong fit when:

• You are working on a single-model project
• You or your ASG representative have experienced challenges locating openings and want to reduce the risk of misalignment
• You are working across multiple models, but all of your sheets live in a federated or coordination model where you are completing the [Send Process], allowing you to capture everything in one pass

These are examples, not an exhaustive list. Your project may have other characteristics that make Full Submission the natural choice.

Skip Sheets

Skips the Sheets step and takes you directly to Files, where you can upload a PDF you have already prepared outside the plugin.

This tends to be a strong fit when:

• You or your team generate PDFs regularly through a task server, an automated export routine, or another consistent process, and those files are ready before you begin the [Send Process]
• Your project has a large sheet count and you have already compiled a submission-ready PDF set prior to engaging the [Send Process]
• You have completed a previous submission for this project or a similar file and would like to try a different approach, such as preparing your PDF outside the plugin
• Your sheets exist across multiple Revit models, making a single in-plugin export impractical
• Your drawings did not originate in Revit, for example from another firm, a CAD source, or a set compiled outside the plugin

Keep in mind, your approach is never locked in. What works well for one submission may not be the best fit for the next.

Skip Sheets and Files

Sends schedule data only, skipping both Sheets and Files entirely.

This tends to be a strong fit when:

• Your schedule data is ready and you want to get it to Overtur quickly, with drawings to follow in a subsequent submission
• Your drawings are not originating from Revit and are being managed or shared through a separate channel
• Your client or project team publishes to a platform such as Autodesk Forma (formerly ACC, BIM 360, or A360) and has provided Allegion access to retrieve drawings directly, making a separate file submission unnecessary

A note worth keeping in mind: When a design team reports that only a small number of items have changed, it is common for a full review of the shared schedule to surface more updates than initially expected. We recommend mapping everything that has been shared rather than filtering by what you have been told changed. The data will show you what it sees.
