Overtur for Revit: Individual Install Guide

Installing Overtur for Revit on your own computer? This guide is for you.

As with any software install, it's always a good practice to check with your local IT department before proceeding, in case your organization has specific protocols to follow. Feel free to share this guide, or the Organization Install Guide above, with them directly and follow their recommendation.

Upgrading from a previous version, or not sure if Overtur's already installed on this computer? Jump to "Already have a version of Overtur installed?" below before you start. It can save you a troubleshooting step later.

All versions of the Overtur for Revit Plugin 6.0 and above are currently supported and active.

The most current version of the Overtur for Revit Plugin available is 6.0.2607.5.

Before You Start

• Local administrator privileges are often required to install software. If you're not sure whether you have this on your work computer, check with your IT department before continuing.
• Close all sessions of Revit before installing.
• This is a single installation that covers all supported versions of Revit already installed on your computer.

Compatible Versions of Revit

• Fully supported: Revit 2024-2027
• Limited compatibility: Revit 2019-2023

Install Steps

We recommend the EXE installer for individual installs. It's the simplest path and lets us better guide you through the process if you run into any issues. An MSI installer is also available if your organization requires it for managed deployment, see the Organization Install Guide.

1. Download the installer: Overtur for Revit Plugin (EXE)
2. Double-click the downloaded file to run the installer. 
   • If it doesn't start, or if you want to be sure it runs with the right permissions, right-click the file instead and select Run as administrator.
3. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation.
4. Open Revit. You should see a new Overtur tab in the ribbon.

That's it. If Revit doesn't show the Overtur tab, try restarting Revit, or contact support below.

Already Have a Version of Overtur Installed?

This extra step isn't always necessary, but since we can't tell in advance whether a previous version or account permissions are already sitting on your computer, following these steps is the surest way to get a clean result, especially if you've already run into a roadblock during install or don't see the Overtur tab in Revit.

1. Close all sessions of Revit.
2. Uninstall the previous version: 
   • Settings > Apps > Installed apps (Windows 11) or Control Panel > Programs and Features (Windows 10), 
   • find Overtur for Revit Plugin and select Uninstall. See Microsoft's instructions if you get stuck.
3. Clear the Overtur folder in %appdata%.
4. Restart your computer. This isn't always necessary, it depends on your local IT policies, but it's a safe way to guarantee a clean result.
5. Download the installer: Overtur for Revit Plugin (EXE)
6. Double-click the downloaded file to run the installer. 
   • If it doesn't start, or if you want to be sure it runs with the right permissions, right-click the file instead and select Run as administrator.
7. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation.
8. Open Revit. You should see a new Overtur tab in the ribbon.

If IT originally installed Overtur on this computer, you may need their help removing it, your local account's rights alone might not be enough to fully uninstall it.
